The National Building Museum awarded the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon with a 2010 Honor Award at its Salute to Civic Innovators on May 11, 2010. The Solar Decathlon was recognized for its "commitment to educating the next generation of engineers, architects, and builders."
