Enable, designed by Northwestern University, placed sixth overall at the U.S. Department of Energy 2017 Solar Decathlon. The team earned first place in the Market Potential and Communication Contests, and third in Engineering.

After the Solar Decathlon, Northwestern partnered with the Berthoud, Colorado, Habitat for Humanity, with plans to reassemble Enable. The Berthoud Habitat for Humanity also acquired New York City College of Technology’s 2015 DURA house in 2018.

“Berthoud Habitat for Humanity is grateful to announce that we've purchased our next solar zero energy home from Northwestern University,” the group posted on its Facebook page in September 2018. “This home was moved from Illinois to Berthoud, Colorado, with the final components moved just this week! We are looking forward to partnering with sponsors and volunteers to help us rebuild this home in the spring and are excited to have this opportunity to utilize cutting-edge energy technologies in our partner family homes! We look forward to sharing more of this story with you!”
