Solar Decathlon 2013

West Virginia University

West Virginia University’s PEAK house placed 19th overall at the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013.

After the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013, PEAK (Preserving Energy with Appalachian Knowledge) returned to West Virginia University. The University then donated the house to the West Virginia Botanic Garden, where the house remains today. There, it is used for office space, a group meeting space, and displays.

“The West Virginia Botanic Garden will be an ideal permanent location for the house,” said Brian Woerner of WVU. “The Garden has a mission to promote the best use of natural resources, and the historical significance and natural beauty of the state. The PEAK house fits perfectly with that mission.”
