Sinatra Living, designed by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, placed eighth overall at the U.S. Department of Energy 2017 Solar Decathlon. The team earned first place in the Innovation Contest and second in Engineering, tying for second in Architecture.
After the Solar Decathlon, Sinatra Living was placed in storage on the team’s construction site in southern Nevada. “We have engaged an architect who has generated plans for installation on campus,” faculty advisor Dave James says, “and currently are at the stage of bidding out the job to install the house on campus in spring 2019 as an exhibit and research test bed that would operate for three years. It's my guess that we would open the house for exhibit purposes sometime in May.”
