The Houses Are All Here!

Wednesday, September 25, 2013

Good news!  As of Wednesday morning, Sept. 25, all trucks with previously missing house sections and equipment were onsite at the Orange County Great Park.

Yesterday, four teams were behind schedule because their trucks were still out on the road. But today, Kentucky/Indiana, Arizona/New Mexico, Team Texas, and North Carolina are all happy to be working at full speed.

The house section it was transporting was too tall to fit through an underpass, so the truck had to find an alternate route. (Credit: Richard King/U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon)

I told the teams at this morning’s all-team meeting not to worry. In 2007, the Santa Clara team arrived three days late for the very same reason, and they ended up in third place. If that holds true, we may end up with a four-way tie for third place this year!
