One month from now, a solar-powered village will suddenly appear in Denver, Colorado, showcasing the latest innovation in building science and design. From modular construction to water conservation and re-use strategies, this year’s crop of Solar Decathlon houses has it all when it comes to technology, design and creativity.

But don’t take our word for it, see for yourself in this photo gallery that breaks down all 12 university team houses. Then, mark your calendar for October 5-15, in the Mile High City. It’s an event you’re not going to want to miss.

Las Vegas
Highlighting accessibility, interior comfort, and integrated wireless technology, this age-in-place Sinatra Living house is designed for aging citizens of Las Vegas and beyond. It combines the architecture of the past with the technology of the future in an open layout that includes adjustable countertops and shelves, slip-resistant flooring, and fall detection sensors that make the house safe and comfortable for any resident with mobility, visual, or cognitive impairments.
